My work is shaped by a strong interest in light and colour, whether I'm painting landscapes, still lifes, or interiors. While grounded in observation, I aim to convey an impression of the scene—focusing on atmosphere, form, and tonal relationships rather than detailed representation.
Working from life allows for a spontaneous and energetic response to the subject. I also value the slower, more reflective process of studio painting, where I can refine compositions, develop ideas, and experiment beyond what is directly in front of me.
My process is intuitive. I adjust tone and colour as I work, often reworking pieces over time. Some paintings come together quickly, but many are set aside and revisited in stages. Increasingly, I’m interested in the surface of the painting itself—how texture and layering can contribute to the sense of atmosphere. Throughout, I aim to keep the work fresh and alive, allowing the painting to evolve naturally as I respond to it.
